Donald J. Sutkus
Don Sutkus is a graduate of the traditional fine furniture making program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston and studied relief carving with master wood carver Clive Hamilton. He built handcrafted fine furniture professionally for eight years starting in 2002 and now works for The Boeing Company blending his engineering and craft backgrounds to make improvements to fabrication methods for composite aircraft parts.
Don has always enjoyed educating others about his craft and has taught beginning and intermediate woodworking classes. He has also given lectures about the making of antique reproduction furniture and has conducted furniture making demonstrations at various festivals and fairs.
In addition to his craft education, Don holds a B.S. and M.S. in engineering from the University of Michigan. He lives in Seattle Washington with his wife, two children and the family dog and he enjoys spending his spare time outdoors with family and friends and being involved in his church.
